The Cape Fear Jazz Society

is a non-profit organization based in Wilmington, North Carolina whose mission is to educate the public, and promote and preserve America's only true art form — jazz! The desire of the Wilmington community to have local access to the art of Jazz is what inspired the creation of our society.

The Cape Fear Jazz Society

The Cape Fear community is essential to our success and we endeavor to give back as much as possible. We partner with UNCW to hold a Scholarship Concert every April for which funds for students interested in studying Jazz at UNCW are raised. We have awarded 26 scholarships since 2001, and firmly believe we must keep Jazz alive for the coming generations of fans and musicians.

Most recently we were proud to bring Jimmy and Tootie Heath, two jazz greats with strong ties to Wilmington in a homecoming concert and one of the best “Jazz Nites” ever.  Jazz Nite is one of the keystones of our calendar year!  A night when the Jazz Society brings internationally renowned jazz musicians to Wilmington to share their talent with our community.

Over the years, we have collaborated with Black Arts Alliance, Airlie Gardens, Thalian Hall, Bellamy Mansion, WHQR Public Radio, Cameron Arts Museum, Southport, North Carolina Jazz Festival and the Cape Fear Chamber Music Society.  More recently with Landfall Foundation and Upperman African American Cultural Center.  We are proud of our past partnerships and look forward to our future collaborations.
